L'oreal Extraordinary Oil (with UV Filter Protection)

Thanks to lovely Meryl of Memoiselle, I got a chance to attend the L'oreal event whereby we were introduced to the new L'oreal Extraordinary Oil with UV Filter Protection. I was excited to see what is different between this version of Extraordinary Oil versus the first generation Extraordinary Oil which comes in the gold coloured pump.

L'oreal Extraordinary Oil with UV Filter contains 6 flower extracts: Flax, Tiare, Rose, Lotus, Chamomile and Matricaria. This really explains why the scent smells so soothing. Coupled with the UV Filter, it helps to moisturise your hair and even protects fading of coloured hair. This really got me excited because I have not seen any hair oil which claims to be able to protect colour of coloured hair.

Compared to the first generation of Extraordinary Oil, I really really much prefer the texture of this new oil. The oil is light and almost felt like water on my palm and when I massaged into my hair ends after a wash, I almost felt nothing on my palm after that.

I have been using L'oreal Extraordinary Oil with UV Filter for the past 1 month in humid Singapore as well as cold, dry Shanghai and I can only say that I LOVE it. Not only does it provide moisture to my coloured, permed hair, it does not weigh down my hair. Most importantly, I do not get breakouts along my jawline (I do get breakout along my jaw where my hair ends touches my skin when using a unsuitable hair oil).

Retailing at $26.90 for 100ml, L'oreal Extraordinary Oil with UV Filter is definitely an affordable product. Most importantly, it works!

Review: Liese Bubble Hair Colour in Jewel Pink

For ladies who love to DIY your own hair colouring, Liese Bubble Hair Colour is no stranger to you. Today, I am introducing the new colour Jewel Pink to you. :)

My model of this review is my dearest sister, who has naturally black hair. As you can see from the pictures below, her hair is quite dark.

The unique thing about Liese Bubble Hair Colour is that it is in foam form and you gently massage into your hair to ensure every strand of hair is covered with the dye and you need not worry about uneven colouring.

After 30 minutes of waiting, sister finally cannot wait to rinse off and see the results of the colouring. Ta-da............

After using Liese Bubble Hair Colour in Jewel Pink, although my sister's hair do not look exceptionally bright due to her naturally dark hair colour, we can see that it looks brighter and redder than before.

Unlike some hair dye which makes the hair dry after colouring, my sister did not feel so as her hair still feels soft and smooth. This is definitely a plus point to turn to Liese Bubble Hair the next time we would like a DIY hair colouring. :)

Review: LUSH I Love Juicy Shampoo

In the hot and humid Singapore, it is not surprise that many have hair woes. For me, I totally hate that I have greasy scalp and dry hair (yes, they call it combination hair!!!). It's always a challenging to get the right shampoo for me because I need something that can thoroughly cleanse my greasy scalp and yet not too harsh to my dry ends. And so far, from all the trial and errors, it's always expensive shampoo that works or cheap shampoo that doesn't. No surprise hur?

I saw a lot of good reviews abt LUSH Big shampoo that work wonders for greasy scalp but it seems the reviews also mentioned that it is extremely drying to dry ends. Seeing this, I know I cannot use this for me, my dry ends will be totally fried! As I was surfing LUSH UK site, I chanced upon I Love Juicy shampoo which could be the answer that I am looking for!

After purchasing the smallest bottle at 100g from Wisma outlet at $16.00 (not cheap, I know!) and trying it for 3 weeks, I have to say I love it! My scalp feels clean and fresh after using it and the citrusy smell of pineapple and mango lingers on my locks which smells great. It does not smell as citrusy as lemon sa it is coupled with a tinge of sweetness from pineapple and mango. Despite having a good cleanse of my scalp, my hair does not feel dry. However, I do realise I cannot use this shampoo consecutively for 3 days, by the 3rd day, my hair starts to feel dry and coarse. So what I am doing now is to alternate I Love Juicy with my normal shampoo (X brand): 2 days shampoo X and 1 day I Love Juicy. This combination works fine and also more pocket friendly. :)

One thing to note is you have to SHAKE I Love Juicy shampoo before use as it is made from fresh fruit and there will be residue in the shampoo that will sink to the bottom of the bottle. Just give it a simple shake, squeeze out a 20 cents coin size shampoo and lather into your hair.

For you out there who is having combination hair, I would strongly recommend this shampoo to you!

My 1st LUSH Spree

Just last month, I organised my very 1st LUSH spree and with the support from my sister and some friends, we managed to order the stuffs that we wanted and split the shipping costs! Yippie!!!

Online shopping is just so convenient nowadays that it is almost impossible not to love shopping in the comfort of your home and just click click away on the mouse and making payment via your credit card. Processing and delivery is very prompt by LUSH UK and I received the parcel just under 2 weeks after my order was placed. On a separate note, I discovered my sister's order of Oatifix fresh face mask was not in the parcel and I tried my luck in contacting them to inform that this item is missing from my parcel. Honestly, I was prepared for the worst case scenario that nothing could be done about it but their customer service was excellent! Not only did they replied my email within 12 hours, the good news is they will send me a replacement mask!!! I am soooooo going to order from them again!

I am so addicted to LUSH products now!!! I have already came up with my next shopping list for LUSH!

Time to pamper my hair

Even since I permed my hair 2 months ago, my hair has been very dry at the ends. I used to have the habit of going to a hair salon to colour and give my hair the necessary treatment when I was younger but with the increase in cost of living and the amount of commitments each month, I have not gone for any hair treatment for years. The lucky thing was I also do not change my hair colour as often as before (when I was younger, I can change my hair colour once every 2 - 3 months!) and I usually do DIY hair colour to cover my greys (which has grown at a tremendous rate in the past 3 - 4 years).

It has been about 6 months since I last coloured my hair to cover my greys and this time round instead of colouring with the usual boring black, I decided to colour it slightly red this time especially since I permed my hair. Usually, I will just buy Garnier hair dye from CK because it is the cheapest at CK at only $9.90 but this time round, I decided to give Liese bubble hair dye a try (freaking ex at $19.90!!! I can buy 2 Garnier hair dye with the same price and still has 10 cent change!) because I do not want the boring dark colour and according to the advertisement, Liese bubble hair colour claim to be able to colour the hair evenly (which is quite a challenge for DIY hair colouring unless you have someone helping you).

Bought the darkest red available which is cassis berry since I want to make sure that my greys are covered. The whole process is like washing hair but TOUGHER. Because I need to make sure that the dyed hair does not stained my neck etc, I was afraid to put on more colour when dyeing. And it does not seem as simple as the advertisement whereby the ladies are enjoying and chatting because the initial stage to pump the foam, apply to hair, massage and then repeat it over and over again until the whole head is filled with foam is tiring.

The verdict: The colour was even and bright and nice but being a 1st timer with this foam hair dye, there are still some greys which were not covered!!!!!! Pissed!!!! I ended up plucking these greys away! (I think I pluck off like 4 - 5 strands which I can see). Nonetheless, I will purchase this brand again and hopefully, I will be more skillful the next time.

After washing off the hair dye, it is treatment time! I have to be more consistent with my hair treatment since my hair is getting drier and drier. Don't want split ends!!! Purchased Pantene Clinicare intensive treatment when I bought the conditioner from the same range previously but have yet to try it so now is the time! What I like about this range of conditioner and treatment is it really, really moisturised my dry hair. Using the conditioner daily makes my hair softer and the texture at the ends are not as rough as before. Smells great too! I am a sucker for nice-smelling conditioner, hehe.

Now, I am loving my hair!!! Hahaha, new colour and softer! Need to keep up with the treatment!
