Sephora 20% off haul

When I heard that Sephora is having 20% storewide discount for their members, I was disappointed because I wasn't a member. Then I told myself that I need nothing so it's ok. But guess what, I went back to Sephora for 3 consecutive days to get the following!!!

Top row: MUFE HD liquid foundation, Clarins UV Plus HP, Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser, Sephora lip brush
Bottom row: Sephora Daily Brush Cleanser, Fresh Sugar Lip Polish, Dior Rouge Nude lipstick

On the 1st day of visiting Sephora, I was all prepared to purchase the lip brush at full price in order to get the membership so that I can immediately use the membership to get 20% off the MUFE foundation. However, when I was paying at the cashier and the cashier asked if I am a member and I said no, this nice lady behind me offered me her card so that I can immediately get 20% off. It's truly comforting to meet a kind soul.

Anyway, eventually I did get my membership by purchasing MUFE Aqua Shadow waterproof pencil (which is not shown in the pic above) and I became a happy (cum obsessive!!!) shopper hauling skincare and more makeup, lol.

More hauls from Sephora

OMG, I am hauling again......... BUT BUT BUT I am a happy gal!

Remember my post here and here about my love for Sephora highly affordable and super long lasting jumbo liner??? In addition to my existing stash of shade in purple, copper, taupe and grey. I have added colour kaki to my stash (which was what I wanted to get the last round anyways). There is no typo in the shade 'kaki'. It is really printed as 'kaki' and not 'khaki', not sure why too. :)

In addition to the jumbo liner, I also bought Soap & Glory body butter. Usually, I am not a fan of body butter as I do not like thick texture and prefer lighter and watery texture of lotion but given that it's a small tub at $7 which is a good price tag and size as trial, why not? We have to start from somewhere right? This is especially useful during this period when my skin is feeling extremely dry lately. :)

How is the 2nd day of CNY for you? Mine was just pigging out at cedele before heading to Sephora to haul these 2 items. Luckily my CNY visiting is done for the year (all squeezed into Day 1)!

More Sephora jumbo eye pencil

After my previous rave of Sephora jumbo eye pencils in this post, I really have to say it again that the lasting power and friendly price tag of $17 is so so so wonderful!!

While having dinner at Great World City yesterday, I stepped into Sephora and couldn't resist checking out the colours of this baby once more.

I have swatched the colours that have caught my attention this time round (with the exception of copper which I bought previously and the liquid eyeliner at the bottom). Purchase was made for taupe (yes, I am sucker for taupe coloured stuff) and grey. I was soooo tempted to add khaki to my basket but I resisted.

On a separate note, the lasting power of the liquid eyeliner is quite lousy, after running under water and rubbing it, it goes off completely!

Have you tried this wonderful product yet? If not, it's really worth giving it a try! I like it how I can use this as a thick eyeliner for my monolids. :)

Sephora Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear Waterproof

I have to rave about Sephora Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear Waterproof!!! This baby is really amazing.

From Sephora site:
These jumbo pencils create a range of effects, from bold lines and blended effects to thin, defined lines. Resistant to water, heat, and humidity, their creamy, high-pigment formulas apply smoothly. From deep blacks to rich and shimmery shades, each is formulated with exclusive waxes and pigments to assure maximum color intensity that stays put for 12-hours.

I have wanted to get Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Shadow Pencil for a while but has been put off by it's price tag at $36 (or is it $38? I cannot remember) thus till now, I have not got down to purchasing it yet. And then....... I found Sephora Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear Waterproof, which is very much like Urban Decay's but only at $17! Woohoooo...........

I bought Purple & Copper

Typically, when we pay a lower price tag, quality will somewhat be compromised. Thus, I put this jumbo liner to a test.

As you can see above, the first pic was how the swatches look like when freshly swatched. The colour is intense with slight shimmer. After an hour, I ran it under running water and rubbed slightly, see how the colour stays on!! The shades look only slightly lighter. After 4 hours and a few washes under the water on and off, you can see even though the colours look lighter, it does not fade off completely. One thing to note, NO PRIMER WAS APPLIED BEFORE THE SWATCHES. Without any primer, this quality of colour intensity and staying power is pretty impressive!

I am definitely buying more of this, the colour shades are pretty too!!

Update on bareMinerals foundation

Remember I was mentioning in yesterday's post that one of the reasons I love bareMinerals foundation is because it is superlasting but I am unsure if it is due to its Prime Time primer? Well, instead of using Prime Time primer before the foundation, I switched to my RMK creamy matte makeup base and guess what? The foundation lasts just as well!! No blotting is required until 6 hours later and even when blotted with tissue, I do not see the usual foundation coming off and turning the tissue paper beige (only very minimal). There is also no oxidization consistent with yesterday's usage.

What can I say except that it's my HG foundation now!!! U guys should really try it out.

bareMinerals foundation

For a while, I have heard much ravings about using mineral foundation. Some mentioned that they do not get breakouts as compared to when they were using liquid / 2-way foundation, some raved that their skin condition became better (smoother, smaller pores) and most raved about the natural look mineral foundation provides with the benefit of buildable coverage.

So much ravings!!! Who can resist the temptation to try right??? So when I saw a mailer from Sephora stating a starter kit with a full sized foundation of our shade (with the option of getting the original / matte version), I decided to give this a go.

This set is $119 as I chose to get the matte foundation. If you are purchasing the original foundation (that gives more glow due to slight shimmer particles in the powder), it will be $115. Honestly, I find this quite a good deal as it comes with 1 dvd guide, 1 mini guide (if you r lazy to watch the dvd), 2 face brushes, 1 concealer brush, 1 trial size mineral veil (setting powder applied after the mineral foundation), 1 trial size warmth powder (looks like bronzer to me to get that healthy glow), a trial size bareMinerals Prime Time base (makeup base to be applied before the foundation) and 1 FULL size mineral foundation of my shade. Brushes are always more expensive and I get 3 of them in this??? WoOOWwww!

My thoughts about this foundation after using it:-

1) Super natural........... LOVE IT! I applied Bobbi Brown Concealer on my undereye to cover the panda eyes and then buff on the foundation. As it is buildable, I buffed in a few rounds to get to a reasonable medium coverage. Even then, I look the natural look as if I am not wearing foundation but with smaller pores and smoother skin.

2) Last very well......... Coupled with the Prime Time base (a clear gel), I did not get any shine on my usual T zone until 6 hours later (I usually need to blot once every 4 hours) and when I blot using tissue paper, I do not see the tissue paper soaking up the foundation (unlike when I was using liquid foundation & powder where the tissue turned beige)

3) Simple to use
All you need to do is just to tap some powder on the lid and using the brush to swirl around the powder, tap off the excess before buffing onto your skin in circular motion.

4) Did not oxidise
This could be due to me using the base. But then again, no oxidisation is really WOW.

Looks like this foundation is definitely here to stay in my makeup drawer... :)

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Based on my limited makeup knowledge, it seems that the highlight of last quarter of 2010 is the launch of Naked Palette by Urban Decay. If you are a makeup fanatic, you know this is the DIE DIE MUST HAVE eyeshadow palette of the year. From some forums that I have been following, there were some ladies who were very disappointed to not be able to get their hands on this beauty. However, I was lucky to have my makeup junkie pal who managed to snag this for me when it was available at Sephora. It has been sitting in my drawer for months before I finally break into it and start using it. The colours are so pigmented and neutral that you can be assured to be able to create multiple looks for different events (work, party, casual, formal etc etc). This is definitely my favourite palette!!! I will reach for this palette like 3 days out of 5 working days???

Not only are the colours gorgeous, the texture is fine and pigmented. The lasting power is amazing....... Using any other drugstore eyeshadows coupled with Too Faced Shadow Insurance, the most the eyeshadow can last on my oily lids is maximum 8 hours. However, Urban Decay's intense pigment coupled with the same Too Faced Shadow Insurance last a good 12 - 13 hours!!! And this is taking into account that I have oily lids. Don't believe, look at the following pic which I took 13 hours after application (sorry for the disgusting shine on my face since it is end of day).

I used Sin on the inner corner till 2/3 of the crease, Toasted on the outer corner and Darkhorse to create outer V and BLEND. Eyeliner used is Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-lasting Eyeliner in Espresso.

I have not seen this palette available in Singapore Sephora after all of it has been grabbed and bought by the many many ladies out there but I did see postings on forum whereby ladies made their purchase online from Sephora USA. However, shipping cost can be quite high so if you are desperate to get your hands on this wonderful, amazing palette, you might want to consider organising a spree to split the shipping cost.

Update: My makeup pal, Queen of Makeup Junkie just informed me that Naked Palette is sighted at Sephora at Great World City!
