Laura Mercier Cavier Stick in Amethyst

Ladies who always in a rush in the morning, stay alert here, haha. Laura Mercier Cavier Stick could just be your saviour for that super fast and lasting eyemakeup that you need in a jiffy!

Laura Mercier Cavier Stick is essentially a cream eye shadow in stick form. Given that it is in a stick form, it makes application extremely fast, simple and also precise. My first Laura Mercier cavier stick is in Amethyst.

The cream shadow is in a retractable stick that come up and down with a twist of the tube.

Amethyst is a beautiful taupe shade (did I mention taupe is my favourite colour??). I couldn't resist not getting this shade even though I have other taupe colours at home.

It is easy to apply on the eyeshadow as the texture is fairly smooth. After application, do not take too long to blend as once it sets, it will not be blendable. I noticed if I blend within seconds with my finger, it's still workable. So my tactic in applying the cavier stick is to apply abit, blend. Apply somemore, blend again. This way, I allow myself to build to the colour intensity that I want and still get to blend them properly.

I compared Laura Mercier Cavier Stick in Amethyst with Sephora Jumbo Liner in Taupe to see any differences in colour and texture. From the look of it, Amethyst (right) already look darker than Taupe (left).

Here's the swatches. Amethyst (left), indeed look darker than Taupe (right). Taupe also look more silverish whereas Amethyst look warmer.

During application, Sephora Jumbo Liner feels creamier and smoother but Laura Mercier is more budge-proof and long-lasting (Sephora Jumbo Liner actually last pretty well as you can read from my post here).

Here is my FOTD with Laura Mercier Cavier Stick in Amethyst. It was a very simple eye make up with Amethyst on the crease, slowly blended up and eyeliner. Super fuss- free and quick. (please pardon the lousy eyeliner application, was really in a hurry, haha)

Belated hauls posting

My blog has been really boring lately with not much updates and all thus I decided to post a belated haul postings with some of the buys that I made few months back.

Courtesy of 2 of my good pals, I managed to snag Laura Mercier from Taipei and Crabtree & Evelyn stuffs (my pal had some discount for her birthday month). I got the popular oil free foundation primer and tinted moisturiser from Laura Mercier as these 2 products are highly raved in the beauty blogsphere. Have yet to break into it thus no comments from me so far. Will post my comments about it once I started using them.

I love nice scented stuffs, especially from Crabtree & Evelyn and L'Occitane and I have been a fan of their body products for a while. Used to not need to get anything from them because I also received their stuffs as Xmas presents from friends! I love lavender and anything with lavender goes for me so I decided to purchase their Lavender dusting powder as well as Lavender bar soaps. Love them!

Next up is Metro Sale! I never usually head down to Metro during their sale as I have friends who can help me get stuffs or I have no stuffs that I need to get. This time round, it was a rare occasion whereby I have Clarins stuffs that I need to get and I was actually available to head down after work.

What I love about getting Clarins stuffs from Metro is that because I am a Metro Card holder, I get to have direct 10% discount off Clarin's products on normal times and when it comes to Metro sales, it's an attractive 20% direct discount! Lucky for me, Clarins works well on me so it is what I called 'Killing 2 birds with 1 stone', hahahaha.

During the Metro sale, I got my favourite cleanser, Gentle Foaming Cleanser for normal to combination skin, Toning lotion (for combination to oily skin) and White Plus HP Whitening Moisture Day Emulsion.
I have tried Toning lotion years ago so I do not think it should be any problems for me. But the whitening day emulsion is a new try for me since it is new. However, I tested the texture on my hand and it felt ok so I thought why not give it a try, especially when there is 20%? Cheapo me........ BC also got some stuffs from Clarins Men range seeing the 20% discount! Haha.

Another reason why I love Clarins? They are super generous with their samples, which I think is a superb strategy. Most ladies are concerned about committing to a product which might end up not suitable to their skin type. With a sample, not only are they able to try, if it's good, you have a new customer, why not? Check out the samples I have from Clarins over 2 visits from them previously! (Did not managed to get any samples during the Metro sale because it was really crowded!)

Last but not least, I finally got my hands on Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy after my previous posting here! Chanel does not have direct 20% discount since their stuffs are price controlled but we get the 20% off in terms of rebate voucher. So I get to offset this 20% against my Clarins purchases (which already has direct 20% off, yeah!)

Hauls from HK (while I am still in Sin)

Yes, you saw the title right.... the hauls were from HK but I was in Singapore because the shopping was not done by me but by my close colleague who went HK and Taiwan for holiday. I am very conscious about troubling my friends to help me get stuffs from overseas as they should be enjoying their holiday and not doing my shopping but I am really blessed to meet really nice friends who always offer to help get my stuffs. Thank you Levon!!

Shu Uemura eyeshadows ME850, 700, Laura Mercier loose setting powder, NARS eyeshadow duo in Tzarine, MAC eyeshadows in Gleam, Satin Taupe

NARS is the only brand which I hauled that is not available in Singapore. I know their blushers are also highly raved by various beauty forums and bloggers, but I am not quite adventurous in terms of blushers (in fact, I am hardly adventurous in terms of eyeshadows also, haha) so anyway, I chose this eyeshadow duo mainly because it's not the usual neutrals that I have always been using and yet the colour is not too strong. It's a palette of shimmery beige and shimmery cool toned grey (looking a bit navy blue at some angle) which is just lovely.

Laura Mercier loose setting powder needs no introduction. It is like the holy grail of loose powder, just do a google on this and you will find list of sites raving about this powder. Fortunately for us in Singapore, Laura Mercier is available in True Colours situated at Takashimaya Shopping Centre (basement 1). But unfortunately for us as well, the sales people in True Colours SUCKS. They are always stalking you like some gold carrot and insist that their house brand IZU is better. I went in last year wanting to get the loose powder and they had to convince and convince that their IZU loose powder is better. And stupid me, actually tried and ended up buying their house brand. But alas, it was not good! Even though, it claims to be translucent, I look like a ghost applying it. I only used it 2 - 3 times and it is now left at the corner of my cosmetic drawer. Total waste of money!

The remaining 4 eyeshadows are permanent products which are easily available in Singapore obviously but I have heard that Shu Uemura is much cheaper in HK (it costs $32 per eyeshadow in Singapore!) I wanted to get ME 700 (the metallic purple shade) sometime back and it was out of stock! Damn popular colour, can???

Hauling is always something happy, don't you think? Just looking at them brings a smile to my face, haha. I have only started using MAC Satin Taupe and the rest are still looking good and brand new! :)
